The Arts Unit of the Department of Education and Training runs three music festivals each year. The first of which is the Festival of Music. This comprises two, three or four concerts all held at the Sydney Opera House, usually before end of Term 2. Each concert features a combined recorder ensemble a combined recorder ensemble of over five hundred primary school players - a different five hundred students each night - and a combined string ensemble of over two hundred primary school string players - a different two hundred each night.
